Registered Veterinary Technician

Kristen Higgins

Kristen is our registered veterinary technician! She is from Nova Scotia where she just finished her studies and is loving every minute of being in Vancouver.  In her free time she loves to go snowboarding, horseback riding and is planning to run the Vancouver Half Marathon this summer!

Veterinary Assistant

Michelle Tay

Michelle came to us in the early spring of 2003 where she started as a volunteer.  Soon she was offered a position and began working full time in the summer and part time during the school year.  While studying at SFU in hopes of becoming a veterinarian herself, she decided to pursue a career in nursing where she will begin her studies in January 2010.  Michelle currently has a grey tabby cat named Merlin who had to have his leg amputated while being a stray, malnourished kitty.  She loves all kinds of sports (and wishes she could be a part of it all) which include, but are no limited to dragonboating, snowboarding, running, rock climbing and mixed martial arts.

Veterinary Assistant

Sara Polzer

                             sara

Sara is originally from Germany but moved to Golden, BC with her parents when she was 9 years old. Animals have always fascinated her and she was fortunate enough to have plenty of pets growing up in the Rockies. Sara moved to Vancouver in April 2006 and is already in love with the city. She graduated as a VOA from Granville Business College and completed her practicum right here at Oak. Sara is very excited to expand her knowledge in this profession.

Veterinary Assistant

Ken Fong

                                   ken

Ken has been a part of our team since November 2006. He looks forward to being around all the animals that come to the clinic, and he loves playing with Devon & Ajooba. Ken is very dedicated and a valued part of our health care team.

Veterinary Assistant

Naoko Fukumoto

                                 naoko

Naoko came from Japan where she worked as a veterinary nurse for 6 years, she's very proud of her job and the work she does with the animals. Naoko has a rabbit named Moca. She is dedicated and always a step ahead whenever assisting our veterinarians. She is happy to work with lots of pets at the Oak Animal Hospital and she hopes all pets live happy lives with their families for a long time.

Veterinary Assistant

Shawne Davidson

Shawne comes to us with seven years experience from here and in California.  Previously she owned and operated two pet related businesses, but to her, nothing is as interesting as working in a vet clinic.  She has a cat, Sebastian and two dogs, Capri and Fergus. Shawne is compassionate and understanding with clients and their beloved pets. Her other passions include horses, music, interior design and British film.

Receptionist

Jamie Miller

  Jaymie

Jamie has been a part of the veterinary industry since 2003 and is a welcome addition to our team!  After graduating high school, she went to Arizona to pursue her undergraduate degree in science and is hoping to go to medical school in the future.  She has a great passion for horses and spends time volunteering at a centre that teaches handicapped people how to ride.  In addition, she has an obsession with the NHL and is going to name her new King Shepherd puppy, Linden.

Clinic Cat

Devon

Devon came to us as a 6-month old kitten seven years ago. He was covered in battle-wounds (abscesses and lacerations) from his life on the street, and so Dr. Dhillon took him in and fixed him up!  The whole team at Oak Animal Hospital fell in love with him from the start, and he has been a fixture here ever since. He can be seen sprawled out on the computer monitor in the reception area, or staring at all the beautiful female kitties in their kennels.

ajooba

Clinic Cat

Ajooba

Welcome our new clinic cat, Ajooba (meaning wonder) and he is one lucky kitty! He came to us as a cat who was blocked from having crystals in his urinary tract and because his owners at the time could not afford treatment, they signed him over to us where we performed surgery that would help prevent him from getting blocked again.  He is a lovely 5 year old, black DSH who loves to cuddle everyone including Devon.
